Anna Laetitia Barbauld
Anna Laetitia Barbauld (nata nomine Aikin die 20 Iunii 1743 Kibworth-Harcourt in Leicestriensi comitatu Leicester, mortuus die 9 Martii 1825 in burgo Hackney) scriptrix Anglica fuit.
Vita
[recensere | fontem recensere]Filia sacerdotis anno 1773 vulgavit opus »Poems«, quod uno anno quattuor editiones habuit, et inde audaciter statim edidit Londinii anno 1773 »Miscellaneous pieces in prose«. Ambobus operibus valde plausum eset. Anno 1774 nupsit Rochemont Barbauld presbytero et instituti educatorii privati praefecto ad Palgrave Suffolciae.. Anna Laetitia praesertim in iuventute educanda operam dabat; cum maritus institutum citatum deseruisset, annis inter 1785 et 1786 in Helvetia et in Francia manebant antequam irent Hampstead Middelsexiae et anno 1802 Stoke-Newington (Hackney). Namque eo coniunx in servitia vocatus erat. Anno autem 1801 criticis offensa scripturam omnino deposuit.
Cum anno 1775 opus »Devotional pieces« secundum argumenta biblica editum esset, pro infantibus suis »Hymns in prose« scripsit. Hymni illi in multa idiomata conversi sunt; eruditionem infantilem in artibus promovit opere egregio »Early lessons«. Postea curavit editiones »Pleasures of imagination« (Marci Akenside) et odas Gullielmi Collin, selectas litteras Samuelis Richardson, florilegium mythistoriarum Anglicarum (omnia cum annotationibus biographicis et criticis), denique »Selections from the Spectator, Tatler etc.« (nova editio, 1864). Prima anthologia operum Annae Barbauld vulgata est Londinii anno 1811 sub titulo »The female speaker«. Neptis Lucia Aikin ex anno 1825 alteram anthologiam edidit necnon »A legacy for young ladies«. Sensuum magnitudo, calor, sagacitas ex operibus sentitur una cum claritate et elegantia quoad scribendi genus.
